Oil in the navel
The navel is the link between a mother and her child, an area that has a rich blood supply and is the channel through which nutrients are carried from mother to child. It is considered the center point of our body. The Indian system of traditional medicine Ayurveda advocates the application of oils in the navel, to provide pain relief, healing, balancing diseases, and relaxation.
It is known as the Pechoti method as it is believed that the pechoti gland in the navel facilitates the absorption of oil into the body. Though the scientific proof for such a gland is yet to be obtained, the practice of using oils in the navel continues as it has been found that the navel has a rich supply of nerves and veins which are connected to the organ systems and extremities of our body.
